Buenos Aires

After a direct 10 hour flight on Delta from Atlanta to Buenos Aires.  We checked in to our perfectly located hotel.  Simple and perfect for our short stay in Buenos Aires.

While in Argentina, you must visit a Tango show.  At La Ventana, Barrio de Tango,  we had a wine tasting prior to the show and dinner and tango.  video below

Mendoza

Off to Mendoza,  we landed and picked up our rental car.  Then, we headed to our lunch and wine pairing at Lagarde wineries.  One of the best meals and settings we have ever experienced.  A first for us, wooden “boxed wine.”

From Lagarde, it is a hour drive to The Vines Resort & Spa Mendoza.  Remember to take note of the country’s driving laws (we were pulled over for not having the headlight on).

Sunset after an amazing day of eating and wine tasting was best enjoyed from our room.  But the best was the rooftop patio with star gazing at its best.

Siete Fuego Experience at The Vines Resort & Spa–authentic Argenitean cuseiun, wine pairings, and new friends from all over the world.

We visited during the harvesting season in March where we were able to blend and label our own bottle of wine.

Every meal with a view.   “Lunch” is a multiple course affair and you want to fill up because dinner doesn’t start until 8:00PM.  We enjoyed Gimenez Riili and the motorcycle crew that shared lunch with us.  And Luca Malen ” Young Girl”  which offered a beautiful view that was hard to catch with the weather that day.

El Paisano Casa De Campo was a lunch option we almost passed on, but so glad we didn’t.   At the home of young Mariana Copello and his father we had a delicious meal.  Mariana spends the climbing season as a guide and the off season as a chef.  They prepared our gourmet meal without the convenience of running water.  The offer an outdoor BBQ with meat and vegetables sourced from their own garden.  We were able to enjoy our meal with the river in the background.

Unable to commit the time to climbing Aconcagua at this time.  We opted for a summit of Mt Lomas Blancas at an elevation of 12,631ft.

Sunrise horseback riding with our entertaining local guide.  Who had rollerbladed (pretty impressive for those who grew up in the 90s)  from Mendoza over the Andes into Chile which is usually a 4 hour strenuous drive.  The sunrise will always be on of my most memorable.  This was a not to miss experience.
